Dr. Mirabel Guthknecht Born 1959 Independent since 2003 practicing with traditional Chinese medicine in Murten.

Motivation I am particularly fascinated by the holistic approach of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It focuses on more than just one symptom and looks at the whole person.

Through my many years of training, I have the knowledge and experience of Western conventional medicine as well as Eastern traditional Chinese medicine.

I do not see myself as an alternative doctor. Conventional medicine has its place and is necessary in many areas.

However, there are diseases that cannot be successfully treated with conventional medicine. For example, skin diseases can usually only be treated symptomatically according to Western medicine.

With Chinese medicine, however, there is a good chance of successfully treating the disease itself and its cause. This applies, for example, to acne, eczema, psoriasis, urticaria and neurodermatitis.

For some diseases, both Western and Chinese medicine are required to achieve a cure. For example, this is often true for oncological diseases. Parallel -treatment is usually equivalent to chemotherapy. Chinese medicine can be very helpful in dealing with the side effects of chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

Another strength of traditional Chinese medicine is the support of the constitution. This is necessary, for example, after surgery, chemotherapy or for children who are susceptible to infections.

One of the best known and most successful domains of Chinese medicine is the treatment of musculoskeletal pain.

This is a very established method of pain relief, especially for back pain, joint pain or degenerative diseases.

Depending on the disease and patient, I use this successfully in conjunction with Chinese medicines, , and massage.
