This treatment consists of burning a stick of mugwort, the heated end of which is placed on the meridian points or diseased area. The heat facilitates penetration of the herbs, whose components are carried by the meridians and their branches. Moxibustion regulates energy and blood flow, and tones up vital energy. Once again, this treatment can be curative or preventive. For optimum results, moxibustion is often offered in conjunction with acupuncture treatment.
