Acupuncture (Latin: acus = needle, punctio = prick) is the best known application or technique of Chinese medicine in our latitudes. The treatment with the fine acupuncture needles has become more and more established in recent years and has met with great interest. During the treatments, certain points of the body are specifically stimulated with acupuncture needles. According to TCM, twelve main meridians penetrate the body, plus eight additional meridians. There are over 360 so-called acupuncture points on the body. Qi (pronounced "chi") can be influenced by needles at these points along the meridians. These points have poetic names that refer to their effect or position. As an example, we call the point 4 of the heart Ling Dao, which translated means something like "way of the mind". Among other things, this point calms the mind and promotes blood circulation in the meridian. The different piercing of the needles promotes and influences the Qi circulation and in this way regulates certain organs and organ systems. A treatment lasts between 20 and 45 minutes, depending on the clinical picture. In our practice we use only sterile disposable needles.

A targeted and professional acupuncture treatment rarely brings side effects, and yet side effects can occur whenever an effect is achieved. These include fatigue, dizziness or bruising. In rare cases, symptoms may intensify for a short time.
