The costs for eye acupuncture are not covered by the basic insurance of the compulsory health insurance according to KVG. However, the supplementary insurances for complementary medicine cover a large part of the costs for eye acupuncture with most health care insurances.

GENERAL In classical Chinese acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, there has been little success in the treatment of eye disorders.

Prof. John Boel from Denmark has been running an acupuncture clinic for 30 years and has been involved in eye acupuncture for about 25 years. During his long practice and research, he has found new acupuncture points that lead to extremely surprising results in the treatment of eye diseases.

Among the most common cases treated today with his eye acupuncture are, macular degeneration (circulatory disorders in the eye), senile hyperopia glaucoma, cataract in the early stages, myopia up to the age of 20 to 23 years, eye diseases caused by diabetes, retinal diseases, thrombosis of the eye or ocular infarction as well as retinitis pigmentosa, visual disturbances after accidents (surgery), dry or watery eyes ect.

It is true that not all eye diseases can be completely cured. However, most eye diseases can be greatly alleviated or the progression of the disease can be slowed down. Eye acupuncture is a useful supplement and alternative to the classic conventional medical eye treatment by your ophthalmologist.
