Acupuncture is one of the five branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). With its holistic approach to the human being, complementary to Western medicine, it takes into account the physical, psychic and emotional aspects of the patient. Its aim is to maintain or re-establish a healthy balance and circulation of energy (Qi) throughout the body, via the meridians.

Acupuncture applied to specific points treats physical ailments, but also emotions and deeper disturbances. Acupuncture can accompany women before, during and after pregnancy, for therapeutic or "well-birth" purposes. It can be practised by a doctor with TCM certification recognized by the FMH (paid for by basic health insurance) or by other practitioners (paid for by certain supplementary insurances).

Magellan is home to acupuncturists who work in close collaboration with all treating physicians, whether based in one of our facilities or elsewhere.
